Open Quote I am a first grade teacher who has been teaching here at Myrtle Grove Elementary for seven years now. I want all parents and grandparents to know how dedicated and well-trained the teachers and staff are here.I love the work environment and the administration; we are constantly being trained and briefed in the most up-to-date technology. All classes have document cameras, LCD projectors and SMartBoards. There are probably six computers in each classroom. We have a well-monitored Reading Club for all ages, and an amazing library and librarian. Visitors are always greeted with a warm smile and an abundance of friendly, cheerful teachers who are anxious to show-off their students many talents in the classroom. I am not only impressed by the school campus, students and teachers, but also by the parents. I think we have some of the warmest and nicest parents anywhere. Many of our student have parents and grandparents(even great-grandparents) who came to school here. THis year, I have an elderly grandparent who drives from across town on two days a week, just to volunteer in my class and at school. (She was once a student in my very classroom when she was in 3rd grade!)This is just one example of community involvement that helps to make our school so special and beloved. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
