Bayview Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Florida elementary schools, with high chronic absenteeism rates ranging from 30.9% to 56.2% over the past few years. The school's test scores are also consistently below the district and state averages across all grade levels and subjects. Additionally, Bayview Elementary has a very high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 71.03% to 78.59% over the past few years, which is much higher than the nearby schools like Fishweir Elementary, John Stockton Elementary, and Venetia Elementary.

Bayview Elementary's performance lags significantly behind these nearby schools, which have much higher test scores, lower chronic absenteeism, and lower free/reduced lunch rates. The higher per-student spending at Bayview Elementary ($17,961 in 2023-2024) compared to the nearby schools, which range from $9,125 to $14,760 per student, suggests that the school may be trying to address these challenges, but the results have not yet been realized. This presents an opportunity for the district and school to implement targeted interventions and support to improve student outcomes at Bayview Elementary.

Open Quote Excellent school! My niece went to 2 other choice schools in Duval county the two years prior and had terrible experiences. She was bullied severely and started failing and got to a point she begged to stay home every day. At this school she made tons of friends and started to excel! She passed with flying colors and was actually excited to see her friends at school! She won't be attending this year and is really sad to go. Close Quote

Open Quote My kids have been in this school since 2011. The staff there are very friendly. The principal Mrs. Neal is an amazing person that likes to be involved with the school and its activities. My childrens teachers Mrs. Shultz and Mrs. Garceau are amazing people. I love this school and the staff and am very pleased with how dedicated they are to making sure that your child gets the right education. Close Quote
