Summary

Renaissance Charter School At Coral Springs is a K-8 charter school in Coral Springs, FL, serving 1,515 students within the Broward district. This school stands out for its exceptional performance in advanced high school-level exams, particularly in math and science, where it far exceeds both district and state averages. For example, the school has achieved 100% proficiency in Geometry for three consecutive years and consistently scores above 90% in Algebra 1 and Biology 1, significantly outperforming nearby schools like West Broward Academy, which scored 66% in Algebra 1 and 63% in Geometry in the most recent data.

However, the school shows a clear split between elementary and middle school performance. While upper-grade students thrive—with 7th and 8th grade ELA proficiency at 72%, outpacing the district and state—elementary math and reading scores are generally average or slightly below district averages. A notable weakness is 8th-grade science, where only 34% of students are proficient, compared to 49% in the district, despite the school's strong Biology 1 results. Chronic absenteeism is a significant challenge, with 24.2% of students missing substantial school time, much higher than nearby charters like Rise Academy School Of Science And Technology (5.4%) and West Broward Academy (2.6%).

The school operates with a leaner budget than most area schools, spending $9,135 per student compared to $13,685 at Forest Hills Elementary School and $13,050 at Park Springs Elementary School. This may contribute to an unusually high student-to-teacher ratio reported at 378.7:1, which likely reflects a data reporting issue or unique staffing model. Overall, Renaissance Charter excels at accelerating middle school students into advanced coursework, but families should be aware of the inconsistent elementary performance and the need to address attendance concerns.

Open Quote I put my son in this school when it first opened. He is now in 3rd grade and the SCHOOL IS AWFUL. They must train the teachers to be yellers, because that is all they do all day. Administration is useless. They only get 15 minutes of recess and they take that away to use as punishment. They try to run the school like a boot camp, they forget these are just kids. They worry only about test scores and make the rules up as they go. We are pulling our son from this school at the end of the year. It is NOT at all what they promise. Close Quote

Open Quote As a parent of 3 kids (2nd 4th and 6th grade) I am very disappointed with the school. I enrolled my kids 3 years ago when the school open. It was a great school but lately the academics and organization of the school is not good. The teachers are very young and they replaced them a lot. My kids every year had different teacher at the middle of the year because they leave they resign at the middle of the year. It happened in 2013 and 2012. I started to think that the best for my kids will be to go to a different school in the area but they have friends there. Close Quote
