Open Quote As a concern parent please do not I repeat do not send your child or children to this school. The staff is very unprofessional. On several different occasions things has happened to my children and I wasn’t notified. I had to get in touch with the area superintendent numerous of times because I was getting the run around and lied to. The principal Mr. Whaley don’t communicate or notified the parents regarding any changes. No letters, no phone calls, no emails, nothing. Liberty is also supposed to be a magnet school that offers extra stem programs/ classes for your child or children and half the programs/ classes they don’t have or not available. If want your child or children to thrive for greatness please look elsewhere! Honestly if I could I would have given NO STARS. Close Quote

Open Quote Normally, I'd say I love this school because of the teachers and office staff. WARNING: if you want to park in the public school parking lot to pick up your children, think again. New rule put in place as of 10/22/2019 - only parents of students in VPK or students in the ESE program can use the parking lot after school. Parents were given 24 hours notice (notified on 10/21/2019). I already have 8 doctor's appointment's scheduled in the next 4 weeks. My son isn't in ESE because he is high achieving though he is on a 504 plan but those children aren't accounted for in this new rule. No students are allowed to be picked up after 1:30pm, so unfortunately picking him up early for the Dr. appointment isn't an option. I am highly against picking him up early anyways because he is already 1 hour late (excused) 6 times per month because of Dr appointments. I don't want him missing any more classroom time. Waiting in the pick up line is about 20 minutes if you arrive 1/2 hour early. There is no parking allowed on Banks Road as of about 1 month ago when the town put "No Parking" signs up everywhere. The police ticket frequently. It is quite a hassle for me personally with my schedule and my autistic son who has Dr appointments 1-2 times per week at 3pm when I NEED to get him home early enough so he can do his homework before his ADHD medication wears off. My son is a walker as of this year so this only truly affects me on dr appointment days. My 1st question, the school was built for over 1000 students only TEN years ago! Why did Broward County School's poor planning on the size of the parking lot vs. the size of the school have to be put on the parents? My 2nd question, why do we all pay taxes to the school but can't park in the lot? I live exactly 2 miles away so my son can't use school bus transportation. The special needs bus passes my home in my condo complex at at 2:36 which would allow me to get to Dr appointments on time but my son isn't on the "severely" special needs spectrum because of his excellent grades so that is another option that I'm blocked from. I am currently refusing to ask for special consideration because it is unjust policy across the board for all parents. Prior to this rule taking effect, I would plan my arrival at the school at approximately 2:36 and there are always parking spots available at that time. So if Broward County School's and Liberty Elementary School were being reasonable they would block off 2:30-2:40 or so for parents of VPK and ESE students and then allow the rest of the parents to use the public school parking lot that we pay taxes for. Additionally, this year we have the lowest attendance in the 4+ years that my son has attended there. Why does the school start this policy now? Lastly, I volunteer there 15 hours per week. I love volunteering but I'm personally serving the school and the students and in turn they are screwing the parents and making many of our lives so difficult. I'm currently considering discontinuing volunteering since I'll have to arrive 1.5 hrs in advance, missing work, to get my son to his Dr appointments. I plan to write a letter to Superintendent Runcie, the school board, and our new principal as of Fall 2019: Matthew Whaley to get parking lot usage rights restored to the parents. In my opinion Liberty Elementary school is NOT family/parent friendly in this regard. BE WARNED! Close Quote

Open Quote My kids have had the privilege to be taught by amazing , caring professionals. They are now in 1st and 3rd. At any school, I recommend for parents to get involved, have good communication with the teachers and staff and show support . My kids went to Christian preschools and we also had a great experience. I've been blessed but I've also been involved and helped when I was needed. Close Quote
