North Georgetown Elementary School serves 754 students in grades K-5 in Georgetown, DE, as part of the Indian River School District. While the school has a notable strength in student attendance, its academic performance currently trails both district and state averages, making it the lowest-performing of the three Indian River elementary schools in the immediate area.

The most striking finding is the "attendance-academic paradox." Milton Elementary (6.5 miles away, Cape Henlopen School District) achieves 63.39% ELA proficiency in 3rd grade—nearly four times North Georgetown's rate. Even Seaford Central Elementary in the lower-performing Seaford School District outperforms North Georgetown significantly. The school's ranking has declined from 67th in 2015-2016 to 83rd out of 106 Delaware elementary schools (22nd percentile) for 2025-2026. Areas of particular concern include very low performance for English Language Learners (ranking near the bottom statewide) and a dramatic two-year decline for low-income students, who dropped from the 74th percentile to the 43rd percentile. The school's low absenteeism and improving 5th grade math scores provide a foundation, but significant instructional changes appear necessary to reverse the current trajectory.
