Conard High School serves 1,380 students in grades 9–12 at 110 Beechwood Road in West Hartford, CT, and is one of two comprehensive high schools in the West Hartford School District. Conard is a consistently high-performing school, ranking 28th out of 133 Connecticut high schools for the 2025–2026 school year with a 4-star rating. It has stayed in the top 20–30 of Connecticut high schools over the past decade.

Academically, Conard is well above state averages in all three tested subjects. ELA SAT proficiency is 74.4% versus 55.3% statewide, math is 46.6% versus 31.3%, and science is 70.9% versus 50.5%. Conard clearly outperforms nearby Newington High School, which has lower proficiency in all subjects, and the gap with Hartford Public High School is enormous. Within its own district, however, Conard trails its sister school, Hall High School, which ranks 10th in the state with a 5-star rating. Hall leads Conard by about 7 points in ELA, 10 points in math, and 5 points in science.

Conard's graduation rate is a strength at 94.7% in 2024–25, slightly above Hall's 94.2%. Chronic absenteeism has improved significantly from 25.5% in 2021–22 to 12.9% in 2025–26, though it remains above the district average of 10.0%. The school serves a higher share of economically disadvantaged students than Hall (33.5% vs. 23.7%), yet still achieves a slightly higher graduation rate. Areas worth watching include math proficiency, where less than half of 11th graders are proficient, and recent declines in outcomes for Asian students and special education students, which represent the school's most significant equity challenges.

The overall experience for my daughter and nephew has been tremendous at Conard! I have seen significant intellectual and social growth in the kids. I would highly recommend this high school to residents of West Hartford!
The assignments are thought provoking and the teachers challenge the students to go above and beyond.
