Summary

Eagle Valley High School serves 980 students in grades 9–12 in Gypsum, CO, as part of Eagle County School District RE-50. Its strongest asset is the graduation rate: 91.3% in 2024–2025, beating the district (84.1%), the state (85.6%), and nearby Battle Mountain High School (85.3%). Eagle Valley has stayed above 91% for five straight years. Science is another bright spot — 27.4% of 11th graders scored proficient on CMAS science, above the state (24.8%) and district (22.5%), and double Battle Mountain's 13.6%.

Math is the clear weakness. Only 22% of 11th graders met the SAT math benchmark, compared with 32% statewide, with similar gaps on the PSAT 9 (30% vs 40%) and PSAT 10 (28% vs 39%). Reading is closer to par: 54% on SAT reading/writing vs 60% statewide, and Eagle Valley actually beats Battle Mountain on 10th-grade reading (61% vs 52%). Chronic absenteeism is 29.0%, slightly above the state's 28.4%. Red Canyon High School (79.5%) and Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy (68.0%) are far worse, while World Academy High School (13.0%) and Battle Mountain (17.6%) are notably better.

The biggest red flag is equity. Economically disadvantaged students fell from the 46th percentile statewide in 2022–2023 to the 16th in 2025–2026; gifted students dropped from the 44th to the 19th percentile. This coincides with free/reduced lunch eligibility jumping from 22.4% to 35.7% in three years. Hispanic students (30th percentile) and low-income students (16th percentile) are being served less effectively than White students (52nd percentile). For families, Eagle Valley offers a stable, community-rooted school that excels at graduating students — but support for struggling and high-ability learners will be worth watching closely.
