Summary

Wildcat Mountain Elementary School is a PK–5 public elementary school in Littleton, Colorado, serving 423 students in the Douglas County School District No. Re 1 — a district ranked 6th out of 115 in Colorado. The school ranks 63rd out of 943 Colorado elementary schools (93rd percentile) and consistently performs well above district and state averages. In 2025–2026, 78.8% of students were proficient in English Language Arts and 71.6% in math, compared to state averages of 44.7% and 37.3%, respectively. Reading scores show a particularly strong upward trajectory, rising from 60.4% proficiency in 3rd grade to 87.2% by 5th grade.

Wildcat is a top-tier school, but several nearby schools post even higher overall numbers. Redstone Elementary School (23rd in the state), Heritage Elementary School (28th), Platte River Charter Academy (18th), and Lone Tree Elementary (37th) all rank above Wildcat statewide. Wildcat's ELA proficiency actually exceeds several of those schools, but its math — and especially its science — lags the top cluster. Only 50.6% of Wildcat 5th-graders were proficient in science in 2025–2026, down sharply from 68.0% the prior year and well below Redstone (75.0%), Platte River (76.9%), and Heritage (72.7%). Another concern for families of advanced learners: gifted and talented students rank in only the 29th percentile statewide, a notable gap given the school's strong overall results.

Wildcat's chronic absenteeism rate of 11.2% is about half the state average and below the district's 16.6%, but several nearby schools — Summit View Elementary School at 6.3%, Heritage at 7.4%, and Lone Tree at 7.9% — have meaningfully lower rates. The school's economic diversity (15.6% free/reduced-price lunch) is moderate for the area. One structural note for parents: Wildcat serves only through 5th grade, while most neighboring elementary schools are PK–6, so families will need to plan for a school transition a year earlier. Overall, Wildcat is an excellent choice, especially for strong literacy development, though parents of advanced learners may want to ask about gifted programming and science curriculum.

Open Quote This school is good if you do not come from another country and your child doesn't have any special needs. Front office is rude, doesn't even acknowledge you are there. Teachers are very " walk on the beaten path and do not try any thing different to accommodate your child, some of them should not be even allowed to be in a classroom. I wish there was zero for the rating, I wouldn't even give them one star. Close Quote
