Summary

Eagle Ridge Elementary School is a PK–6 elementary school in Lone Tree, Colorado, serving 571 students as part of the Douglas County School District, a top-tier district ranked 6th out of 115 in the state. The school currently holds a 4-star rating and ranks in the 75th percentile statewide for the 2025–2026 school year — a solid performance compared to state averages, though below the district average and most nearby schools in the Lone Tree/Highlands Ranch area.

The clearest area of concern is chronic absenteeism. At 22.7%, Eagle Ridge has the highest rate among all nearby elementary schools — more than double the rates at Lone Tree (7.9%), Redstone (9.1%), and Willow Creek (5.6%). The school also serves a more economically diverse student body than most neighbors, with 30.8% of students eligible for free/reduced lunch, up from 22.9% just two years ago. Only Acres Green has a higher rate in the immediate area. Academically, Eagle Ridge beats state averages but trails its own district: 56.1% proficiency in ELA and 53.2% in math, versus district rates of 63.8% and 57.2%. At Fox Creek, just over half a mile away, ELA proficiency reaches 70.7%. Science is another persistent gap, with 5th-grade proficiency at 47.7% compared to the district's 55.0%.

There are genuine bright spots. Hispanic students at Eagle Ridge rank in the 94th percentile statewide — a top-10% performance that stands out even as overall rankings have slipped. The school also exceeds district averages in 4th grade ELA (69.1%) and 6th grade math (57.6%). However, the school's overall ranking has drifted gradually downward over the past five years, and outcomes for low-income students have weakened this year. Chronic absenteeism, 3rd grade literacy, and science are the clearest opportunities for improvement. If Eagle Ridge can make progress in those areas, it has the potential to rejoin the top tier of the strong school cluster it calls home.

Open Quote My friend's kid goes to this school and just heard about a very disturbing story that happened to her son as a disciplinary action this past Monday. Apparently they were out on field day (Pre-k) and to correct his behavior they locked him in a closet. When the principle was confronted their response was "Did he tell you what he did? What can we do to improve our school?" No action a child can do deserves to be treated this way! You typically lock a dog up if they misbehave but not a human being, not a 5yr old child. So upset by this incident. Close Quote

Open Quote My Daughter has done poorly in this school. I have four children, my youngest daughter currently attend. When my old children attended this school it was great. The teacher's were really experenced and loved to teach. Now the teachers are all newer teachers or burned out. They seem stressed and unhappy. My daughter struggles with math and has received poor support. She is continually stressed out, is on acid reduction medication for anxiety. She says her math teacher makes her feel stupid and doesn't feel comfortable asking him questions. We are counting the days until 6th grade ends. We look forward to a new school that will hopefully renew our daughters love for learn and build her self confidence. Close Quote

Open Quote I went to this school for 7 years. The food was absolutely awful! However, I would say 7 out of 10 teachers are nice. Which is good I guess... Also, there are a lot of strange students in my opinion. I would not really recommend this school for anyone the least bit different. Although, I was never bullied or was a bully, I saw a lot of bullying. So this school is not really bad. Just not the best in my opinion. Even though you may learn a lot by the brilliant teachers the students here are pretty rude and the food sucks. Close Quote
