Summary

Northridge Elementary School is a PK-6 elementary school in Highlands Ranch, CO, serving 560 students within the Douglas County School District No. Re 1 — a 5-star district ranked in the 95th percentile statewide. Northridge Elementary School itself earns a 5-star rating and ranks 65th out of 943 Colorado elementary schools for 2025-2026, placing it in the 93rd percentile statewide. That's an excellent result, but it represents a step back from recent years: the school ranked 17th in 2022-2023, 33rd in 2023-2024, and 46th in 2024-2025.

Academically, Northridge remains a strong performer. English language arts proficiency is 75.3%, well above the district's 63.8% and the state's 44.7%. Fifth-grade science is a genuine standout at 76.6% proficiency — far above the district (55.0%) and state (36.1%) — and trails only Eldorado Elementary School (85.2%) and Stone Mountain Elementary (81.5%) among nearby schools. However, math is the relative weak spot. Northridge's overall math proficiency of 62.4% is below several neighboring schools, including Eldorado Elementary School (82.3%), Stone Mountain Elementary (80.7%), Bear Canyon Elementary School (69.5%), and Trailblazer Elementary School (68.3%).

The most notable concern is 6th grade math, where only 50.0% of students are proficient — below the district rate of 52.9% and the lowest among all nearby comparable schools. This is striking because the same cohort posted a healthy 69.8% proficiency in 5th grade math. Early literacy also deserves attention: 3rd grade ELA proficiency is 56.5%, below the district average of 57.6%, even as 4th and 5th grade reading scores are excellent (82.4% and 86.4%). Chronic absenteeism, at 15.2%, is the highest among nearby schools like Stone Mountain Elementary (4.5%) and Littleton Academy (2.6%), and it rose from 14.2% the prior year. Northridge has the academic foundation to return to the top tier of Colorado elementary schools — and stable attendance and targeted math support in later grades would go a long way.

Open Quote Northridge is a fantastic school that has high academic achievement, while also offering music, two PE classes, Art, two foreign languages, technology class, a maker space and library to every student from kindergarten to 6th grade. My kids love their teachers, their principal and their friends, and we feel valued as a family. They learn something new and exciting every day and have a balance of traditional academics and cutting-edge learning opportunities. Sadly, it looks like their scores dropped this year because many families chose not to take the state test, so their kids got zero scores. I know that my kids are still getting the best education available because I see what happens in the classrooms when I volunteer. We are so grateful to the staff at Northridge Elementary.
