Summary

Cherry Hills Village Elementary School is a highly rated PK-5 school in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado, serving 491 students and part of the Cherry Creek School District No. 5, a district ranked 26th out of 115 in Colorado with a 4-star rating. The school has a long history of 5-star state ratings and remains one of the stronger elementary schools in the district.

Academically, CHV posts very strong results. About 75.5% of students are proficient in English Language Arts and 74.8% in math, compared with state averages of 44.7% and 37.3% respectively — meaning math proficiency is nearly double the state average. Attendance is another major strength: the chronic absenteeism rate is just 7.0%, versus 25.3% for the district and 28.4% statewide. The school also serves a very low-poverty population, with only 9.8% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, the lowest among nearby schools. That said, CHV's state ranking has slipped over the past decade from #9 in 2015-16 to #74 in 2025-26 — still in the top 8% of elementary schools, but no longer the dominant leader it once was.

Compared with nearby schools, CHV remains a top choice. It edges out Greenwood Elementary School in ELA and math (75.5% vs. 73.4% and 74.8% vs. 67.1%), and both schools share excellent attendance. However, CHV's 5th-grade science proficiency has dropped from 72.2% to 41.9% over two years, well below Greenwood (66.2%), Slavens K-8 School (72.3%), and University Park Elementary School (77.1%). Slavens K-8, just 1.59 miles away, ranks #21 statewide with higher proficiency in ELA (84.3%), math (80.8%), and science. Additionally, CHV's Gifted and Talented students rank in the bottom quarter statewide, a surprising result for a school with such high overall achievement. Still, for most families, CHV's combination of strong core academics, exceptional attendance, and low absenteeism makes it one of the strongest elementary options in the area.
