Summary

Antelope Trails Elementary School is a public elementary school in Colorado Springs, Colorado, serving grades PK-5 with an enrollment of 306 students. The school is part of the Academy School District No. 20, which is ranked 13 out of 115 school districts in Colorado and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Antelope Trails consistently outperforms the district and state averages on CMAS assessments in English Language Arts and Math, with 64.6% of students proficient or better in ELA and 53.9% in Math, compared to the district's 61.1% and 51.9%, and the state's 44.8% and 35.9%, respectively. The school's student-teacher ratio, ranging from 13.7 to 14.9 over the past few years, may contribute to its academic success. However, Antelope Trails faces some challenges, such as increasing chronic absenteeism, which rose from 19.0% in 2022-2023 to 27.7% in 2023-2024, and a growing population of economically disadvantaged students, with the percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch increasing from 4.98% in 2021-2022 to 18.95% in 2023-2024.

While Antelope Trails outperforms many of its nearby peers in the Academy School District No. 20, such as Encompass Heights Elementary and Douglass Valley Elementary, it lags behind the high-performing schools in the neighboring Lewis-Palmer Consolidated School District No. 38, such as Ray E Kilmer Elementary and Bear Creek Elementary. Additionally, the nearby magnet school, The Da Vinci Academy, and the charter school, The Classical Academy, both have higher overall academic performance than Antelope Trails, particularly in Math and Science.

Open Quote Antelope Trails Elementary is a hidden gem!!!!

From the moment you walk through the doors at Antelope Trails Elementary, you are greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflects the school's commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all students. The school has a sweet, small, nostalgic feel to it.

The staff at Antelope trails Elementary are nothing short of remarkable. They are not only highly skilled, but they also go above and beyond by ensuring that every child feels valued, heard, and encouraged to reach their full potential. The teachers and staff have always been approachable and responsive to my family's personal situations or concerns.

As far as academic excellence, Antelope Trails Elementary is top notch. It is an International Baccalaureate (IB) school which provides emphasis and focus on the development of the whole child as inquirer, both in the classroom and world outside. The school also won The James Irwin award in 2023, which is an award given to schools that demonstrate exceptional academic achievement over time. My kids have grown leaps and bounds academically over the years. The school does not require nightly homework so that kids can be kids after school. Teacher's will provide homework if parents desire, but the school values time after school to be well spent with family and doing extracurriculars.

Additional perks are all the extracurricular activities that cater to the student's diverse interests: from chest and science club to art club and sports groups. They also engage families and the community through school dances, fun runs, family breakfast and BBQs, as well as school performances. These activities bring the Antelope Trails community together, making everyone feel like extended family!

I can't say enough good things about this school. My kids have thrived here and we can't imagine going anywhere else! Close Quote

Open Quote My son just completed 4th grade at ATE. He has attended ATE since kindergarten and has loved his experience at the school. ATE's IB curriculum has fostered a love of learning and exploring, as well as, created an environment that encourages kids to take on new challenges. The social environment fosters lots of interaction between students at all levels at his school. Both the teachers and the administration do a fantastic job each and every day, going out of their way to ensure kids have a supportive learning environment. Parents at ATE are both engaged and involved in various activities supporting the school. ATE is a great elementary school and would recommend it to new parents exploring schools for their elementary school -aged kids. Close Quote
