Colorado Military Academy (CMA) is an alternative public charter school in Colorado Springs, CO, serving 618 students in grades PK–12 under the State Charter School Institute. CMA's overall academic profile is significantly below district and state averages, although the school shows strengths in student retention and recent attendance improvements that may be encouraging signs for families.

CMA's state test results reveal substantial academic challenges. In 2024-25, only 25.9% of CMA students scored proficient in ELA and 17.4% in math, compared to state averages of 44.8% and 35.9% respectively. Math is a particular concern, with 7th-grade proficiency at just 6.8% and PSAT9 math scores (19) roughly half the state average (38). College readiness also lags: CMA's 11th-grade SAT reading/writing score of 35 compares poorly to nearby Thomas MacLaren State Charter School (90) and Banning Lewis Ranch Academy (66). Meanwhile, 48.1% of students now qualify for free/reduced-price lunch, up from 39% two years earlier. Compared to nearby alternatives like The Haven School, CMA has better graduation and dropout rates, but lags significantly behind Liberty Tree Academy in both academics and graduation outcomes. The overall picture is a school with strong student retention and improving attendance, but with significant academic challenges that are important to understand.
