Summary:
96001 includes 14 schools in the Redding area: six elementary schools, one middle school, six high schools and one alternative school. Current-year test results are available for 11 schools; two have results only through 2024–25, and Tri Mountain Academy’s 2025–26 results are suppressed. Across the 11 schools with current results, the gap between the highest- and lowest-scoring schools is about 50 percentage points or more in every subject.
The leading schools differ by subject: Shasta Collegiate Academy and Shasta High were virtually tied in ELA at 72%; Sycamore Elementary led math at 56%, just ahead of Grant Elementary at 56%; and Grant led science at 59%, with Stellar Charter close behind at 58%. At the other end, Pioneer Continuation High was lowest in all three subjects: 18% in ELA, 6% in math and 9% in science, about 32, 32 and 27 points below the state, respectively. Pioneer also reported 76% graduation and 72% chronic absenteeism, compared with 88% and 18% statewide; Stellar reported 93% graduation and 2% chronic absenteeism.
Over two years, the equal-school average rose 3 points in ELA and 7 in science, while math was essentially unchanged. Individual trends vary: Shasta High’s math score fell 10 points even as its ELA and science results rose. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile rankings also show mixed trajectories: Sycamore and Cypress Elementary each gained 18 percentile points over three years, while Sequoia Middle fell 11. Among four K–5 schools, the 2024–25 free/reduced lunch eligible share ranged from 57% at Manzanita Elementary to 89% at Cypress; Sycamore’s 77% share accompanied the strongest ELA and math scores among the four, while Cypress had the lowest. These figures offer context, not an explanation for school results. Grade-level results can also change the picture: Sequoia’s eighth-grade ELA and math were slightly above state results, despite lower All Grades scores.
