Summary:
ZIP code 95821 has 11 schools—six elementary, two middle, two high and one alternative—spanning kindergarten through grade 12. In 2025–26, the unweighted school averages were below state results in ELA, math and science, but those averages mask large differences between schools. The most important finding for families is how widely results vary from one school to another.
Mira Loma High led in ELA and science, with 52% and 41% proficient, respectively—about 3 and 5 points above the state. James R. Cowan Fundamental Elementary led in math at 40%, about 2 points above state. At the low end, Katherine Johnson Middle had 10% ELA proficiency, Marconi Learning Academy had 1% in math, and Dyer-Kelly Elementary had 6% in science. Among the middle schools, Arcade Middle scored 13 points higher than Katherine Johnson in ELA, 8 in math and 16 in science. Graduation offers another contrast: El Camino Fundamental High graduated 99% of students, about 11 points above the state, despite math proficiency of just 16%.
Results shifted unevenly from 2024–25 to 2025–26: the unweighted ELA gap with the state widened from about 17 to 18 points, the math gap narrowed from 19.2 to 18.8 points, and the science gap widened from 9 to 11 points. Cowan’s science proficiency fell 25 points, from 60% to 36%, even as its ELA and math improved; the other eight schools with science results in both years all improved. SchoolDigger ranking percentiles also fell for Mira Loma, from 84th to 67th, and Cowan, from 66th to 59th, over 2023–24 to 2025–26. As context, in 2024–25, Del Paso Manor’s free/reduced lunch eligible figure was 62%, compared with 89% at Dyer-Kelly; their all-grades ELA results differed by 30 points. Arcade’s student-teacher ratio was 24.2, compared with 18.5 at Katherine Johnson, though Arcade had higher test results. Aspire has no 2025–26 results, so current comparisons cover 10 schools.
