Summary:

ZIP code 95127 has eight elementary schools, all serving grades 3–5; Adelante Dual Language Academy also serves grades 6–8. On average, the schools’ 2025–26 results were below state results in all three tested subjects: ELA was 30% versus 49% statewide, math was 25% versus 38%, and science was 21% versus 36%. Math had the smallest average gap with the state, but only one school exceeded the state in math or science, and every school was below the state in ELA.

Adelante was the clearest all-subject standout, with the group’s highest all-grade results: 47% in ELA, 41% in math, and 38% in science. Its lead over the other seven schools’ averages was 20 percentage points in ELA, 18 in math, and 20 in science; it exceeded the state in math and science but was 2 points below in ELA. Among the K–5 schools, Russo/McEntee Academy ranked second in all-grade ELA at 38% and had the group’s second-highest science result at 27%. At the lower end, Thomas P. Ryan Elementary had the lowest ELA and math results, 17% and 14%, while Robert Sanders Elementary had the lowest science result at 12%. All-grade comparisons are less directly aligned because Adelante serves through grade 8, while the other schools serve through grade 5.

Recent changes were mixed, and the school averages did not catch up with the state: ELA fell by 1 point and science rose by 2, while math was virtually unchanged; state results rose in all three subjects. Individual schools varied sharply: Adelante gained 7 points in ELA, 4 in math, and 16 in science, while Millard McCollam Elementary fell by 8, 7, and 11 points, respectively. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile ranking for McCollam also dropped from 63 to 33; Sanders rose from 11 to 16 despite small declines in each subject. As context, all schools reported the same low-income measure, free/reduced lunch eligible, for 2024–25; shares ranged from 54% at McCollam to 84% at Ryan. Student–teacher ratios ranged from 18.5:1 at McCollam to 21.8:1 at Linda Vista Elementary, with no simple match to test results.
