Summary:
Schools in zip code 93004 include four elementary schools in Ventura Unified: three serve kindergarten through grade five, and Academy of Technology & Leadership at Saticoy serves kindergarten through grade eight. In 2025–26, the schools’ simple average was 41% proficient in ELA, compared with California’s 49%; math was about level with the state at 38%, while science averaged 32% versus 36% statewide. The sharpest school-to-school difference is in science: Academy’s 44% was 25 percentage points above Juanamaria Elementary’s 19%.
Academy led the four schools in all-grades ELA, math and science, with results of 48%, 41% and 44%; it was above the state in math by 3 points and science by 8, but 1 point below in ELA. Citrus Glen Elementary had the lowest all-grades ELA and math results, at 34% and 36%; Juanamaria had the lowest science result. Grade-level results show why overall figures do not tell the whole story: Juanamaria led third-grade ELA and math, Junipero Serra Elementary led fourth-grade ELA, and Academy led fifth-grade ELA and math, both at 55%. Academy’s strong overall standing also comes with a sixth-grade dip: 28% in ELA and 22% in math, below state results of 48% and 37%.
Recent changes were mixed: the four-school average fell 2 points in ELA and was nearly unchanged in math from 2024–25 to 2025–26, while science rose 3 points—less than California’s 3-point gain. Academy’s science result jumped 17 points, while Junipero’s ELA fell 9 points and Juanamaria’s science fell 12. SchoolDigger’s 2025–26 rankings place Academy highest among the four at the 57th percentile, followed by Junipero at 49th, Juanamaria at 45th and Citrus Glen at 41st. For context, all four reported the same measure, free/reduced lunch eligible, for 2024–25; school figures ranged from 54% to 59%. Student-teacher ratios ranged from 23.2 at Junipero to 25.8 at Citrus Glen. All-grades comparisons combine different grade spans, and year-to-year results do not follow the same students.
