Summary:
Three high schools in ZIP code 92691 serve grades 9–12: Trabuco Hills High, Mission Viejo High and Silverado High. Their 2025–2026 results show a sharp divide, rather than one consistent profile across the area: Trabuco Hills and Mission Viejo are above California’s proficiency rates in all three subjects, while Silverado is below the state in all three. The most important finding is the wide gap between Silverado and the other two schools.
Trabuco Hills leads in ELA, with 70% proficient, compared with 65% at Mission Viejo and 13% at Silverado. Mission Viejo leads in math (51%) and science (56%), edging Trabuco Hills by 2 and 5 percentage points. Silverado’s math and science results are 3% and 6%. Across the schools, the strongest-to-weakest gaps are 57 points in ELA, 48 in math and 50 in science. Mission Viejo also reports 99% graduation and 15% chronic absenteeism; Silverado reports 85% graduation and 71% chronic absenteeism.
Recent changes are mixed: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, the three-school average fell 4 percentage points in ELA, rose 1 point in math and rose 3 points in science.
