Summary:

ZIP code 92411 has 11 schools: seven elementary, two middle and two high schools, serving students across a range of grade levels. In 2025–2026, the nine schools with ELA and math results averaged 30% in ELA and 21% in math; the eight with science results averaged 19%. Those averages trail California’s 49% ELA, 38% math and 36% science results by about 17 to 19 percentage points. The most important takeaway is that results are generally below state levels, but there are meaningful differences among schools in the area.

Ramona-Alessandro Elementary led the 2025–2026 all-grades results in ELA at 47% and math at 36%, while Dr. Mildred Dalton Henry Elementary had the highest science result, 31%, and the second-highest math result, 31%. Each leader was still below the state result in that subject. At the other end, Mt. Vernon Elementary had the lowest ELA result at 20%; Martin Luther King Junior Middle had the lowest math result at 10%; and Rio Vista Elementary had the lowest science result at 9%. SchoolDigger ranked Ramona-Alessandro at the 52nd percentile, compared with the 7th percentile for Graciano Gomez Elementary, 4th for Mt. Vernon and 6th for Martin Luther King Junior Middle.

Average results improved from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026 by 3 percentage points in ELA, 2 in math and 3 in science, but science fell slightly farther behind the state as its result improved faster. Attendance is another concern: the nine-school average chronic absenteeism rate was 30%, versus 18% statewide; Ramona-Alessandro was at 16%, while Howard Inghram Elementary was at 42%. Grade-level results can look quite different from schoolwide results: Rio Vista had 60% third-grade math proficiency but only 2% in fifth-grade math. For context, 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible shares at the nine San Bernardino City Unified schools with 2025–2026 results ranged from 93% at Ramona-Alessandro to 97% at Howard Inghram; this is an observation, not an explanation of results. Schoolwide comparisons include schools serving different grades.
