Summary:

Zip code 90023 has 16 schools: 11 elementary schools, four middle schools and one high school, serving a range of grades across Hollenbeck Middle, CATCH Prep Charter High Inc. and other schools. Nine schools have 2025–2026 test results, and two primary centers have no scores supplied. Among those nine, the average was 39% in ELA, 36% in math and 20% in science; compared with state results, those averages were lower by 10, 2 and 16 percentage points, respectively. Science is the clearest area of concern across the current-year group.

Current-year leaders vary by subject: Soto Street Elementary led ELA at 48%, Sunrise Elementary led math at 53%, and Euclid Avenue Elementary led science at 31%. The lowest scores were 30% ELA at Rowan Avenue Elementary, 22% math at Robert Louis Stevenson College and Career Preparatory, and 11% science at Sunrise. Sunrise’s math result was 14 points above the state, while its science result was 25 points below. Across the same nine schools with results in both years, average ELA rose 2 points and math rose 4 points from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026; science rose 2 points, but the gap with the state widened from 15 to 16 points. Individual schools differ: Sunrise gained 21 points in math, while Euclid’s results were comparatively balanced at 47% ELA, 45% math and 31% science. SchoolDigger’s rankings also show movement: Sunrise rose from the 35th to the 62nd percentile, and Euclid from the 35th to the 59th between 2023–2024 and 2025–2026.
