Summary

La Sierra High is a small public school serving grades 7-12 with about 191 students in Visalia, operating under the Tulare County Office of Education.

The school's standout feature is its perfect 100% graduation rate, which is significantly higher than its district's average and remains strong even when compared to other local high schools like El Diamante High and Redwood High. It also has a lower rate of chronic student absences than both the state and district averages. This success in keeping students engaged and on track to graduate is achieved with a very small student body and a low student-to-teacher ratio, supported by exceptionally high per-student spending.

While graduation rates are excellent, academic proficiency in English and math, though improving recently, is generally lower than at many surrounding schools such as University Preparatory High. Performance varies by grade, with 11th graders showing strength in English. The school has demonstrated notable year-over-year improvement in its state ranking and test scores, suggesting positive momentum.

Open Quote If you want your child to have a good education, La Sierra is not the place to go. When our son was there, he was bullied and ridiculed. The worksheets he brought home were for elementary students. It is not a surprise that their state test scores are so low.

Also, the facility is unclean and insufficient for the students. Close Quote
