Summary

Meadow Elementary is a highly-regarded K-6 public school serving 384 students in Petaluma, operating within the top-performing Waugh Elementary school district.

The school consistently ranks in the top 8% of all California elementary schools, with students demonstrating exceptional proficiency in English (81%) and Math (70%), significantly above state averages. This strong academic performance is supported by excellent student attendance, with a chronic absenteeism rate of just 7%, which is less than half the state average and lower than most nearby schools like Mary Collins Charter School at Cherry Valley (13.7%) and Live Oak Charter (15.8%). Meadow Elementary achieves these outstanding results efficiently, with per-student spending lower than some neighboring schools that have lower academic performance.

Meadow forms a notable cluster of excellence with the nearby Sonoma Mountain Elementary, as both schools rank in the 92nd percentile statewide. The school has shown resilience, maintaining and even improving its rankings through the pandemic years. While it excels overall, performance data shows a slight dip in 5th-grade math scores before a strong recovery in 6th grade, and the school continues to work on supporting all student subgroups effectively. Compared to its closest district peer, Corona Creek Elementary, Meadow outperforms by a significant margin in core subjects despite very similar student demographics and resources.

Open Quote As a parent with kids that came from a top rated school in the Santa Clara area I wanted and needed a school that was as great as our old one. Well Meadow became that school. Mrs. Becker and the teachers are amazing and I couldn't ask for a better education system to teach my kids the foundation of tools to make they star students and future productive College graduates. Open Quote I can't say enough about Meadow's total school environment. The administration, teachers, and families strive for excellence in educating students as a whole. Striving for educational excellence is not done in a stressful way but more so in a way that brings the level of the larger group to achieve higher standards. Also, the no bully zone posters are for real. Every one of the kids know all they have to do is tell any teacher or school worker and they don't have to worry about being intimidated. Chances are that student may no longer be there if caught or reported more than a couple of times. In all, Meadow is an environment of excellence in learning and growth in a safe environment. I promise you will not find a better school than Meadow. Close Quote
