Summary

Arroyo Vista Elementary is a high-performing K-5 public school serving 667 students in the highly-regarded South Pasadena Unified district, consistently ranking among the top 2% of all elementary schools in California.

The school excels academically, with over 82% of students proficient in math and 85% in English, and it stands out for its strong science program and remarkably low chronic absenteeism rate of 5.6%. It is particularly effective in supporting all students, with its Hispanic, low-income, and special education student groups each ranking in the state's top 5% for their peers. Within its own district, Arroyo Vista's performance is solidly between its two sister schools: it outperforms Monterey Hills Elementary but trails the exceptional scores of Marengo Elementary.

The most striking finding is the dramatic difference a district boundary makes. While all three South Pasadena schools are top-tier, several schools just outside the district in Los Angeles Unified, like the nearby San Pascual Elementary Sci Technical Engr Arts And Math (STEAM) Magnet and Annandale Elementary, have significantly lower rankings despite sometimes much higher per-student spending, highlighting a stark educational landscape within the same geographic area.

Open Quote I love this school, my son is so happy and is motivated for the professional teacher. My son likes to get 4 or 3+ because he is proud of his school and dream since his 9 years old to be in UCLA.. why is he thinking like that?, he have been motivated by teachers. The Principal is an excellent human been, well I am more that happy for living in this area and be part of this great school district. Close Quote
