Summary:

Schools in zip code 90032 include 12 schools: seven elementary schools, one middle school, three high schools and one alternative school. Eleven have 2025–26 proficiency results; Alliance Marc & Eva Stern Math and Science has results from 2024–25 only. Across the 11 schools with current results, average proficiency is 51% in ELA and 40% in math, both slightly above state results of 49% and 38%; science averages 30%, below the state’s 36%. The most important finding is that results vary widely from school to school, so the zip-code averages conceal major differences among options.

Standout results depend on the subject. In ELA, L.A. County High School for the Arts leads at 84%, 35 percentage points above the state; the lowest result is 27% at Cesar Chavez Elementary, 22 points below the state. Sierra Vista Elementary leads math at 60%, just ahead of Multnomah Street Elementary at 58%, while Cesar Chavez is lowest at 18%. In science, Multnomah leads at 52%, 16 points above the state, and Huntington Drive Elementary is lowest at 8%, 28 points below it. Some schools have very different subject profiles: Woodrow Wilson Senior High has 63% ELA proficiency but 24% in math, while Sierra Park Elementary has 51% in math and 41% in ELA.

Recent changes are mixed: the average across schools rose by about 1 percentage point in ELA and barely changed in math from 2024–25 to 2025–26, while science rose by 2 points but fell further behind the state as the state result improved more. Individual schools also moved in different directions: Sierra Park’s math result rose 19 points, while Huntington Drive’s science result fell 8 points. Context measures do not point to a simple explanation for these differences. All schools report free/reduced lunch eligible, sy 2024–25; figures include 19% at L.A. County High School for the Arts, 84% at Sierra Vista and 93% at Cesar Chavez. Similarly sized K–5 schools Multnomah Street and Farmdale Elementary have reported student–teacher ratios of 20.1 and 19.0, yet Multnomah leads Farmdale by 24 points in ELA, 26 in math and 20 in science.
