Summary

Linda Vista Elementary serves 362 students in grades K–5 in San Diego’s Linda Vista area and is part of San Diego Unified. Its latest test results show a broad challenge: in 2025–2026, proficiency was below district and state rates in English language arts, math, and science, and the school had the lowest all-grade rates in all three subjects among nearby schools serving the same grades.

The gap is substantial across subjects. Results have improved recently, though the longer-term picture is mixed: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, proficiency rose by 6 points in English language arts, 8 in math, and 6 in science; since 2022–2023, math is up 4 points, English language arts is nearly unchanged, and science is down 16. SchoolDigger’s statewide ranking improved from the 3rd percentile and zero stars in 2024–2025 to the 11th percentile and one star in 2025–2026, but remains the lowest percentile among nearby schools with a reported ranking. The 2024–2025 student-teacher ratio was 21.2, below the nearby same-grade schools’ average of 24.3; the reported free/reduced lunch eligible rate was 92% in 2024–2025, compared with their 57% average. These are context, not explanations for test results. Chronic absenteeism has also fallen, from 52% in 2021–2022 to 13% in 2025–2026, below the district’s 17% and state’s 18%. One notable historical subgroup result: SchoolDigger ranked English Language Learner Students at the 36th percentile in 2023–2024, compared with the school’s 9th-percentile overall ranking that year.
