Summary

Harada Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 603 students in the Riverside Unified School District, currently facing significant academic challenges with a statewide ranking in the bottom 8th percentile.

The school's academic performance is substantially below both district and state averages, with only 22.8% of students proficient in English, 14.4% in math, and 8.1% in science. This performance is notably lower than nearby schools in the same district, such as Patricia Beatty Elementary (48th percentile) and Bryant Elementary (51st percentile). A particularly striking comparison is the REACH Leadership STEAM Academy, a charter school just half a mile away that ranks in the 58th percentile despite having a higher student-teacher ratio.

Harada Elementary also struggles with a high rate of chronic absenteeism at 28.7%, which is well above the district average and contributes to a concerning multi-year decline in its statewide ranking. While the school has a relatively favorable student-teacher ratio, its academic results have fallen over the past decade. The school shows some variation in performance across different student groups, with recent sharp declines in outcomes for Special Education students indicating an area needing urgent attention and support.

Open Quote The teachers are horrible at this school. They don't teach the kids and expect parents to pickup for their slack. They don't even give homework related to what they are testing and expect the kids to know everything. In addition, the administrators are a joke! They don't care about the students growth and well being. They hinder and prevent children from having extracurricular activities as well. Their after school program also sucks because they lock your kids in like it is a prison and you CANNOT pick up before 6pm. The school is run like a GERMAN camp. Close Quote
