Summary

Highgrove Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 848 students in the Riverside Unified School District, which has faced significant academic challenges over the past decade, with its statewide ranking falling from the 57th to the 24th percentile.

Academically, the school's proficiency rates in English, Math, and Science are well below both district and state averages, and it has a higher student-teacher ratio (26:1) than many nearby schools. While chronic absenteeism has improved from pandemic highs, at 22.6% it remains a concern and is linked to weaker academic outcomes. Interestingly, the school's performance lags behind that of other local schools with similar student demographics, such as Terrace View Elementary and REACH Leadership STEAM Academy, which achieve stronger results despite comparable funding levels.

The analysis suggests Highgrove's challenges are multifaceted, with notable performance gaps for certain student groups and inconsistent results across grade levels. The school spends less per student than several comparable schools in neighboring districts, and its decade-long decline in ranking occurred even as funding increased. Key areas for improvement likely include reducing chronic absenteeism, enhancing instructional quality—particularly in upper-grade mathematics—and learning from the successful practices of higher-performing nearby schools that serve similar communities.

Open Quote That's right all reviews here ...parents disappointed I'm the way the principal looks down on us....yes if you're not a staff in that school your not considered any important when concerned about you're kids.the school staff its very rude unfriendly and if you don't speak English i seen they put you off ....its not a secure school either ..they allowed my sons father taking my kids our of school without even asking for ID he isn't even suppose to get them only on the weekends!!! Through court.....also one of my child is gifted and as i was told by teachers she was behind and were going to hold her back i fought with the district and had her tests from ucla and told them that if they held her back I'd open up a case against them....i just pulled all 3 out and put them in private school......teachers talk about other parents..principal acts like she's the president of the united states and never their to give back to what really matters these kids. If i knew how to protest our get the medias attention i would and gather all the parents that have been mistreated by the staff this school would be so much better they would definitely have a better school conduct.except these parents are afraid too speak out because they say they have no rights since some have no papers...not fair dislike and would put more insights here but for what !?
