Summary

Booker T. Washington Elementary serves 351 students in kindergarten through sixth grade in El Centro, California. In 2025–2026, 30% of students were proficient in English language arts (ELA), 26% in math and 9% in science; all three results were below state and district levels. Science is the clearest concern: proficiency was 27 percentage points below the state and 17 points below the district, the school’s widest gap.

Math is the school’s relative bright spot, but it still trails nearby schools and both broader benchmarks. Compared with the seven nearby same-district K–6 schools, Booker T. One notable subgroup result is Special Education Students: SchoolDigger ranked the school in the 6th percentile for effectiveness in 2025–2026, down from the 37th percentile the year before. Chronic absenteeism also remains a concern: 27% of students were chronically absent in 2025–2026, compared with 16% in the district and 18% statewide.
