As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Not pleased with front office staff. Do not care for the interpersonal skills of principal Mills. If you are not part of the PTA then you are not part of the crowd and dont have a fighting chance for your concerned voice to be heard. Not pleased with this school. Test scores show the declining rank of this school as it should rank higher in the area that this school is located. Funding raised through the PTA needs to be used towards schools technology. Open Quote I have been a part Of the Aspen Family for ten years now and I am constantly amazed at the consistency of excellence at this school. The teachers are positive forces in our children's learning and have been excellent role models also. Their dedication and positive attitude permeate throughout the classrooms and the overall learning climate is one of cooperation and compassion. The staff work together in a team teaching module to get the best of all ideas to each and every classroom. I have seen that the preparation for culmination to middle school has been well planned and that the transition for students was made much easier due to the high caliber and expectations set by the teachers and staff.

The students are consistently supervised by a caring and diligent group of yard supervisors who keep an everpresent and watchful eye on our children. The school has a zero tolerance policy of bullying and has an intact plan for the learning, education and response in these matters.

The Parent Faculty Association has had a long standing role in keeping Aspen as one of the premiere elementary schools in the district, raising over $50,000 a year to supplement the classrooms in computer technology, library services, (which are not supported by the state), music, dance and art education and family services. All of which is done through parent volunteerism and not through out of pocket sales of items such as magazines and such. They have a well organized group of parents that continue to grow and change with the times and the needs of the school. The communications with in the school are superior and parents are always in the loop of what is going on in the school and in their child's classroom.

The campus is a beautiful green grassy, well landscaped campus with newly planted trees, outside planters, three grade level learning gardens and an outdoor classroom. There is an ongoing and award winning green incentive within the school with recycling programs, waste reduction programs and projects, composting programs and education.

I have and will continue to reccomend Aspen to anyone who is looking to move to the area, change schools or whatever reason they may have in finding a new school. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
