Summary

Jefferson Elementary is a K–6 school in Calexico, California, serving 625 students in Calexico Unified. In 2025–26, its proficiency rates were below California’s in English language arts (ELA), math, and science. Its clearest academic concern is science: just 8% of students were proficient, compared with 36% statewide and 15% in the district, and Jefferson scored below every nearby Calexico Unified K–6 school.

Math is Jefferson’s strongest subject relative to its district and nearby peers, while science is its weakest. In 2025–26, 20% of students were proficient in math—2 points above the district—and Jefferson ranked third among the seven local K–6 schools. ELA proficiency was 27%, 3 points below the district, but also ranked third locally. Both subjects remained well below state results: 38% in math and 49% in ELA. SchoolDigger’s statewide ranking for Special Education Students was at the 34th percentile in 2025–26, compared with the school’s overall 13th percentile; the subgroup result had been at the 12th percentile the year before. These rankings can shift substantially, and the data do not explain why they changed.
