For example, in 2024-2025, the school's ELA proficiency rate was 51.69% compared to the state average of 48.81%, and its Math proficiency rate was 29.21% compared to the state average of 37.3%. When compared to the nearby schools, such as Marcum-Illinois Union Elementary, Browns Elementary generally performs worse in terms of test scores, chronic absenteeism, and student group performance. The nearby schools also tend to have higher spending per student and lower chronic absenteeism rates, suggesting that additional resources and a focus on attendance may be contributing factors to their better performance. Browns Elementary's performance has been inconsistent over the years, with the school's ranking and star rating fluctuating between 2 and 4 stars on the SchoolDigger scale, indicating that the school may be struggling to maintain consistent academic progress.

Open Quote This school was horrible when my daughter went. I actually had to pull her out and transfer her to a new school. They never took any action against bullying and even, in a way bullied my daughter themselves. They treated her very badly. I even complained to the school board, whom also didn't seem to care.
