Summary

Biggs Elementary enrolls 320 students in grades K–8 in Biggs, California, and is part of Biggs Unified. In 2025–2026, its proficiency rates were below both the state and district averages in English language arts (ELA), math, and science. The most important finding is that Biggs’s results are low across all three subjects, with science the weakest against nearby schools.

Compared with the state, Biggs was behind by 22 percentage points in ELA, 17 in math, and 21 in science; it was also below its district by 7, 6, and 5 points, respectively. Even so, the gaps with the state widened in all three subjects. SchoolDigger placed Biggs at the 10th percentile overall in 2025–2026, with zero stars, down from the 31st percentile in 2022–2023. Its statewide effectiveness percentile for female students fell to 5 in 2025–2026, from 30 the year before, a sharp decline in SchoolDigger’s measure of how well the school serves that group. For context, the student-teacher ratio was 18.9 in 2024–2025, and 68.8% of students were free/reduced lunch eligible that year; nearby schools reporting the same measure ranged from 43% to 94%. Chronic absenteeism also improved, falling from 47% in 2021–2022 to 17% in 2025–2026, below the state’s 18% but above the district’s 15%.
