Summary

Aspire Vanguard College Preparatory Academy is a public charter high school in Modesto serving about 617 students in grades 6-12, which has shown notable improvement and ranks in the top half of all California high schools.

The school's greatest strength is its exceptional track record of getting students to graduation, with rates consistently near or at 100%, significantly higher than both the state average and nearby schools like Modesto High or Ceres High. This success is achieved even though the school's standardized test scores in English and math are below state averages, a contrast that highlights its effective student support and retention. Compared to other local options, Aspire Vanguard ranks solidly in the middle of the pack overall but stands out for this graduation success, especially when compared to alternative schools in the area.

Parents should note a significant performance gap between male and female students at the school, with boys performing notably higher. The school also faces a challenge with chronic student absenteeism, though this rate has been improving. It operates efficiently within the Aspire Vanguard College Preparatory Academy District, spending less per student than some neighboring districts like Ceres Unified while delivering strong graduation results.

Open Quote This school is now located in Modesto. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE. There is a new principal at vanguard and she unfairly targets children and lies to parents. If you try to advocate for your children be prepared for unfair bullying. This woman is on a power trip and wants you to kiss her ring. After meeting with the director of the Central Valley I walked away feeling great only to be knocked back down later that evening. Trust me, record ALL of your dealings with the principal because she will deny saying things and twist words. Be prepared to pay for therapy for all the mental anguish this woman will cause your children. With children dealing with an all time high of emotional issues this woman should surely consider a different career path. Hoping my review saves some parents heartache later. Close Quote
