Summary:

The 23 schools in Ceres Unified include 14 elementary, 3 middle, 4 high and 2 alternative schools, serving students from elementary through high school in the Ceres area. In 2025–2026, the school averages were 37% in ELA, 23% in math and 25% in science, compared with state rates of 49%, 38% and 36%. Results varied widely from school to school, but the average was below the state rate in every subject.

La Rosa Elementary led in math (50%) and science (77%), with its science score 41 percentage points above the state rate; it was also strong in ELA (53%). Whitmore Charter High led ELA at 77%, 28 points above the state, and placed second in science at 50%. At the bottom, Argus High (Continuation) had 8% in ELA, 0% in math and 1% in science—42, 38 and 35 points below state rates, respectively. Grade-matched results offer another bright spot: Blaker-Kinser Junior High exceeded the state in eighth-grade ELA (51% versus 49%) and science (38% versus 35%).

Across schools, average scores rose about 1 point in ELA, 1 in math and 5 in science from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, but individual results differed: science improved at 15 schools and fell at 7. SchoolDigger’s 2023–2024 to 2025–2026 percentile rankings also moved in different directions: Virginia Parks Elementary gained 17 points, while Whitmore Charter School of Art & Technology fell 17. As context, the reported free/reduced lunch eligible measure is for 2024–2025: it was 84% at La Rosa, 92% at Carroll Fowler Elementary and 89% at M. Robert Adkison Elementary, despite their contrasting results; their student-teacher ratios were 23.5, 24.8 and 25.2, respectively. These measures provide context, not an explanation for scores.
