Summary:

Moorpark Unified includes 10 schools in Moorpark, serving kindergarten through grade 12: six elementary schools (one serving K–8), two middle schools and two high schools. Across the 10 schools, the average proficiency results were above California’s in English, math and science. Giving each school equal weight, the averages were 12 percentage points above the state in English, 13 points above in math and 11 points above in science—the clearest overall finding for families comparing schools in the area.

The highest all-grades results belong to The High School at Moorpark College: 89% in English, 68% in math and 76% in science. It is a small alternative-profile school with 121 students, compared with 1,691 at Moorpark High, so those all-grades results are not a like-for-like comparison. Among the K–5 schools, Walnut Canyon Elementary leads in English and math, at 71% and 61%, while Arroyo West Elementary leads in science at 56%. At the other end, Flory Academy of Sciences and Technology has the lowest all-grades English and math results, 48% and 39%, and Peach Hill Academy has the lowest science result, 34%. Among the middle schools, Mesa Verde Middle is ahead of Chaparral Middle in all three subjects, by 4 points in English, 4 in math and 1 in science. Across all schools, the highest-to-lowest gaps are 42 points in English, 29 in math and 43 in science.

Recent results are mixed rather than moving in one direction: the 10-school averages changed by −3 points in English, +1 in math and +5 in science from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026. Both middle schools improved in all three subjects; Peach Hill fell in all three, while Flory’s science rose 23 points. SchoolDigger rankings also shifted: Moorpark High moved from the 73rd to the 80th percentile, Mesa Verde from the 69th to the 75th, and Peach Hill from the 83rd to the 70th. The reported low-income measure is free/reduced lunch eligible, school year 2024–2025; it ranges from 13% at the alternative high school to 60% at Flory, whose science results are much stronger than its English and math results. Student-teacher ratios range from 19.7 at Mountain Meadows to 30.7 at the alternative high school. All-grades comparisons span different grade groups, and the alternative high school is much smaller than Moorpark High.
