Summary:
Jurupa Unified has three middle schools—Jurupa Middle, Mira Loma Middle, and Mission Middle—and all serve grades 7–8. In 2025–2026, their average proficiency was 31% in ELA, 17% in math, and 19% in science, compared with statewide results of 49%, 38%, and 36%. Math had the largest average gap from the state. Most importantly, all three schools were below state results in every subject and grade shown.
Jurupa Middle led all three schools in all-grades ELA, math, and science, with 38%, 22%, and 24% proficient. Its ELA result was 13 percentage points above Mission Middle, the lowest at 26%; its math result was 10 points above Mission’s 12%. Mira Loma Middle had the lowest science result, at 16%, while Mission reached 17%—a 1-point edge over Mira Loma and a contrast with Mission’s lower ELA and math results. The spread between the highest and lowest school was 13 points in ELA, 10 in math, and 8 in science.
Across the schools, average ELA proficiency rose 2 percentage points from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, and science rose 7 points; math increased by less than 1 point, while the state math result rose 1 point. Science gains varied: Mission improved 11 points, Jurupa 9, and Mira Loma 1. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile rankings also show a mixed pattern: from 2023–2024 to 2025–2026, Jurupa moved from 35 to 33, Mira Loma from 22 to 17, and Mission from 10 to 11. As context, 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible figures were 77% at Jurupa, 84% at Mira Loma, and 88% at Mission; student-teacher ratios that year were 21.6, 21.3, and 20.0, respectively. These differences describe school context but do not explain test results.
