Summary:
The four schools in Coronado Unified serve kindergarten through grade 12 and enroll 2,757 students. In 2025–2026, their average all-grades results were 74% proficient in English language arts, 64% in math and 61% in science—about 25, 26 and 25 points above state results, respectively. The most important finding is that all four schools outperformed the state in all three subjects, even though results varied within the district.
Coronado High led in English language arts, with 80% proficient; that was 7 points above the average of the other three schools. Silver Strand Elementary led in math (73%) and science (70%), roughly 12 and 11 points above the other schools’ averages in those subjects. At the other end, Coronado Middle had the lowest results in all three: 68% in English language arts, 56% in math and 55% in science. It was still above the state in each subject. The widest school-to-school spread was in math, at 17 points.
Results eased slightly overall from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, while state results rose, narrowing the schools’ average advantage by about 2 points in English language arts, 2 in math and 4 in science. English language arts fell at all four schools; Coronado High was the exception in math and science, improving in both. SchoolDigger rankings range from the 87th to 94th percentile; over two years, High rose 5 percentile points, while Village and Middle each fell 5 and Silver Strand fell 2. The reported low-income measure is free/reduced lunch eligible, sy 2024–2025: about 15% at High, 15% at Middle, 16% at Village and 25% at Silver Strand. That higher reported share at Silver Strand coincided with its leading math and science results, but these figures alone do not explain school outcomes.
