Summary:
The seven schools in San Diego County Office of Education include five alternative schools, one high school and one elementary school, serving broad grade spans or specialized populations; enrollment ranges from 28 to 510 students, with 1,089 students overall. In 2025–2026, the average reported all-grades proficiency was 11% in English language arts (ELA), 6% in math and 3% in science, compared with state results of 49%, 38% and 36%, respectively. The most important finding is that reported proficiency is far below state results in every subject: the school averages trail by 39 percentage points in ELA, 32 in math and 33 in science.
The highest reported ELA result was 13% at San Pasqual Academy; San Diego County Court had the lowest, at 7%. San Diego County Community led in math at 11% and science at 6%, while Court reported 0% in both subjects; San Pasqual Academy also reported 0% in science. Attendance tells a different story: Court’s chronic absenteeism was just 1%, the lowest in the group, despite its low test results. By contrast, Davila Day had 12% chronic absenteeism, below the 18% state rate, while five schools were above it.
Results changed unevenly. Among schools with paired results, average ELA rose by 3 percentage points and math by 1 point from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026; science rose by 1 point, but its gap from the state widened by 3 points. North Coastal Consortium Schools had 27% ELA proficiency in 2024–2025, but its current all-grades result is suppressed; no test scores are supplied for San Diego County Special Education. SchoolDigger ranks the district 688th of 968, in the 29th percentile, with 1 star. As context, 2024–2025 measures labeled free/reduced lunch eligible range from 25% to 93% among five schools; Monarch and Court instead report directly certified for free meals, at 78% and 56%, so these different measures should not be compared as if they were the same.
