Summary:

High schools in Brea-Olinda Unified include two schools serving grades 9–12: Brea Olinda High, with 1,676 students, and Brea Canyon High (Continuation), with 41. The schools differ in type and size, and their 2024–25 proficiency results show a wide achievement difference: Brea Olinda led Brea Canyon by 64 percentage points in English language arts, 46 points in math and 46 points in science.

Brea Olinda High was the stronger school in all three 2024–25 subject comparisons, scoring 69% in English language arts, 51% in math and 55% in science; Brea Canyon scored 5%, 5% and 10%, respectively. In 2025–26, Brea Olinda remained above state rates in every subject: 68% in English language arts, 49% in math and 55% in science, compared with state rates of 49%, 38% and 36%. SchoolDigger gives Brea Olinda four stars and an 86th-percentile ranking for 2025–26; Brea Canyon’s latest listed rating is one star and the 13th percentile for 2024–25, so these rankings are from different years. Other measures offer a mixed picture: in 2025–26, graduation rates were 96% and 95%, while chronic absenteeism was 10% at Brea Olinda and 64% at Brea Canyon. In 2024–25, free/reduced lunch eligible rates were 42% and 44%, and student–teacher ratios were 21.3 and 5.9, respectively.
