Summary:
Alameda Unified has nine elementary schools, all serving grades K–5. In 2025–2026, their unweighted averages were 67% proficient in English language arts (ELA), 69% in math, and 54% in science, compared with state rates of 49%, 38%, and 36%. Math was the group’s strongest subject relative to the state, but that overall picture masks substantial differences: the gap between the highest- and lowest-scoring schools was about 41 percentage points in ELA and math and 42 points in science. The key takeaway is that performance varies widely from one school to another.
Bay Farm leads in ELA (82%) and math (83%); its math result is effectively tied with Amelia Earhart (83%). Frank Otis leads science at 71%, about 5 points above Amelia Earhart. At the other end, Ruby Bridges is lowest in all three subjects: 41% in ELA, 41% in math, and 29% in science. It is below the state in ELA and science, but 3 points above the state in math. Amelia Earhart, Edison, and Franklin also exceed state rates in all three subjects.
Group averages rose from the prior year by about 1 point in ELA and 2 points in math, while science fell about 1 point. Maya Lin improved most, gaining about 7 points in ELA, 9 in math, and 10 in science; Love had the largest ELA drop, down about 9 points, and Amelia Earhart had the largest science decline, down about 10. SchoolDigger awarded five stars to Bay Farm, Amelia Earhart, Frank Otis, and Edison; four to Love, Maya Lin, Franklin, and William G. Paden; and three to Ruby Bridges. As context, all schools report the free/reduced lunch eligible measure for school year 2024–2025, ranging from 19% at Bay Farm to 66% at Ruby Bridges; these figures describe the schools and do not explain their test results.
