Summary:

Alhambra Unified has 16 schools: 13 elementary schools serving K–8 and three high schools serving grades 9–12. In 2025–26, average proficiency was above state results in every subject for both groups: elementary averages were 61% in ELA, 54% in math and 47% in science, while high school averages were 69%, 50% and 53%. The most important finding is that those above-state averages conceal especially wide differences among elementary schools.

Monterey Highlands Elementary led elementary schools in all three subjects, scoring 75% in ELA, 71% in math and 65% in science; Granada Elementary was lowest, at 47%, 37% and 24%. The gap between them was 27 percentage points in ELA, 34 in math and 41 in science. Among high schools, Mark Keppel High led in all three subjects, with 74% in ELA, 62% in math and 63% in science. Alhambra High had the lowest high-school math result, at 42%, while San Gabriel High had the lowest ELA and science results, at 63% and 47%. All three high schools were above state results in every subject.

Results rose in all three subjects at both Emery Park Elementary and Granada from 2024–25 to 2025–26. Emery Park gained 7 percentage points in ELA, 13 in math and 12 in science; Granada gained 7, 7 and 3 points, respectively, but remains below the state in all three subjects while Emery Park is above it. The reported low-income measure is free/reduced lunch eligible for 2024–25: Monterey Highlands was at 35% and Granada at 55%, context that does not explain results. Attendance is another point to weigh: Emery Park chronic absenteeism was 20%, versus 9% districtwide and 18% statewide. SchoolDigger rankings rose 14 percentile points for both Emery Park and Granada over three years, while Repetto Elementary fell 11 points.
