Summary:

Alhambra, California, has 11 schools: nine elementary schools serving K–8 and two high schools serving grades 9–12. In 2025–26, the K–8 schools’ average proficiency was 59% in English language arts (ELA), 51% in math and 44% in science, compared with 49%, 38% and 36% statewide. The two high schools also averaged above state results in all three subjects. But school results vary substantially—especially in elementary science, where scores ranged from 24% to 55%—so the overall averages do not describe every school equally well.

Mark Keppel High led the high schools, with 74% proficiency in ELA, 62% in math and 63% in science; its leads over Alhambra High were 4, 19 and 13 percentage points. Among elementary schools, William Northrup Elementary led ELA at 66%, Martha Baldwin Elementary led math at 61%, and Park Elementary led science at 55%. Granada Elementary had the lowest K–8 results in all three subjects—47% in ELA, 37% in math and 24% in science—and was below state results in each. SchoolDigger ranked Mark Keppel at the 92nd statewide percentile, Northrup at the 84th and Granada at the 48th.

Average results rose from 2024–25 to 2025–26 in all three subjects for both grade groups: K–8 gains were 2 points in ELA, 3 in math and 5 in science; high-school gains were 1, 4 and 11 points. Individual schools did not all follow that pattern: Emery Park Elementary rose 7 points in ELA, 13 in math and 12 in science, while Marguerita Elementary fell 15 points in science. SchoolDigger’s rankings also rose from 2023–24 to 2025–26 at Emery Park and Granada by 14 percentile points each, though Granada’s current scores remain lowest among the elementary schools. Free/reduced lunch eligible rates for 2024–25 ranged from 39% at Fremont Elementary to 60% at Ramona Elementary; Ramona scored above the K–8 average in all three subjects, while Granada and Marguerita, with rates near 55%, were below those averages. These measures provide context, not explanations of results; smaller school enrollments may also make year-to-year scores less stable.
