Summary:
Natomas Unified has five high schools: four serve grades 9–12, while Leroy Greene Academy serves grades 6–12. In 2025–2026, the five-school unweighted average was about 49% proficient in ELA, essentially matching the state, compared with 26% in math and 33% in science—12 and 3 points below state rates, respectively. The most striking finding is the wide proficiency gap between Natomas Pacific Pathways Prep (NPPP) and Discovery High: 68 points in ELA, 49 in math, and 63 in science.
NPPP led the group in all three subjects, with 85% proficient in ELA, 52% in math, and 66% in science; each result exceeded the state rate. Discovery had the lowest results, at 17%, 4%, and 4%, respectively. It also had very high chronic absenteeism: 82%, compared with 2% at NPPP and 18% statewide. Yet Discovery’s 89% graduation rate was above the state’s 88%. Among the other schools, Inderkum High had the next-highest ELA result at 58%, 9 points above Leroy Greene’s 50%; Leroy Greene had the group’s highest graduation rate, 100%. Natomas High recorded 36% in ELA, 17% in math, and 23% in science.
Group-average proficiency rose from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026 by 4 points in ELA, 5 in math, and 7 in science, outpacing state gains; however, Natomas High’s ELA result fell 5 points and Discovery’s science fell 3. SchoolDigger ranked NPPP 125th of 2,137 statewide (94th percentile, five stars) and Discovery 1,895th (11th percentile, one star). As context, NPPP reported 36% free/reduced lunch eligible in 2024–2025, compared with 82% at Discovery; Discovery’s student-teacher ratio was 13.1, lower than NPPP’s 17.7, but its proficiency was much lower. Discovery enrolled 130 students, and schoolwide comparisons also reflect different grade spans because Leroy Greene serves grades 6–12.
