Summary

Copper Trails is an elementary school serving grades PK-8 in the Avondale Elementary District in Goodyear, Arizona, with an enrollment of 1,016 students. The school has consistently been rated 2-3 out of 5 stars by SchoolDigger, indicating average performance compared to other Arizona elementary schools.

Copper Trails generally performs below the Avondale Elementary District and Arizona state averages on standardized tests. For example, in 2024-2025 projected scores, Copper Trails had 21% proficiency in 5th grade science compared to 23% for the district and 34% statewide. The school also has mixed performance for different student subgroups, with African American and English Language Learner students performing relatively well, but female, male, Hispanic, White, and special education students ranking in the bottom half or bottom third of Arizona schools. Additionally, Copper Trails has seen elevated dropout rates in recent years, ranging from 5.2% to 6.5%.

Compared to nearby schools, Copper Trails performs similarly to other Avondale Elementary District schools, but charter schools in the Goodyear area, such as Legacy Traditional School - Goodyear, The Odyssey Preparatory Academy Goodyear, and BASIS Goodyear Primary, generally outperform Copper Trails and the district on test scores and rankings. The high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch at Copper Trails, along with the school's below-average test scores, suggests that socioeconomic challenges may be impacting student achievement, and targeted interventions and support for economically disadvantaged students could be an area for improvement.

Open Quote My child has learning disabilities and was bullied constantly. The school puts on a good front w talk about anti-bullying but when it actually happens they fail at follow-through. Other kids called my child names, flipped him off almost every day and even had kids ask him if he was the Florida shooter, absolutely disgusting, yet the school said it was my child's word against theirs. FAIL. They were also terrible at communicating. Only one teacher would communicate with us on a regular basis, the others ignored us. We are now homeschooling our child and are pleasantly surprised how much better FREE online school is. My child has no more stress or shame and has full support of his community now. Rethink public schools, they are awful. Close Quote
