Summary

Legacy Traditional School - Northwest Tucson is a public charter elementary school serving 1,279 students in grades K-8 in Tucson, Arizona. The school is part of the Legacy Traditional School - Northwest Tucson District, which is ranked 112 out of 289 districts in the state and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Legacy Traditional School - Northwest Tucson has consistently ranked in the top 30% of Arizona elementary schools over the past 10 years, with strong academic performance on state assessments, particularly in English Language Arts and Science. For example, the school's projected 8th grade proficiency rate in English Language Arts for 2024-2025 is 63%, compared to the state average of 40%. The school also outperforms nearby public schools in the Flowing Wells Unified, Amphitheater Unified, and Marana Unified districts on state assessments.

However, the school faces some challenges, including a gradual increase in its dropout rate over the past 5 years, rising from 3.3% in 2019-2020 to 6.1% in 2022-2023. Additionally, while the school excels in the performance of certain student subgroups, such as Asian and African American students, it struggles to close the achievement gap for White and Hispanic students, who perform below the state average. The school may need to implement more targeted interventions and support strategies to address these areas of concern.

Open Quote We have been with Legacy since our eldest was in Kindergarten. He is now going into 6th grade and our youngest is going into 4th. We have had nothing but positive experiences every single year with teachers, staff, the education our children are receiving and extracurriculars. We love that Legacy isn't just a school our kids attend, it really is a community. There is so much care that comes from the teachers and from the administration. We love that our kids are receiving a quality education that is preparing them for success in the future. But most importantly, our kids LOVE this school and look forward to going! They love their teachers, they love their principal, they love being involved in all the fun activities the school plans for them. We love that parents are encouraged to be involved with volunteering and are always welcomed. Choosing Legacy 7 years ago is one of the best decisions we have ever made for our family.
