As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Unfortunately FJA has continued to go down hill. We have been there for 5 years (2 kids). This is likely the last year we will attend as I can no longer deal with the lack of quality teaching, unorganized structure and loss of teachers.

The past two/three years have been a slow decline. The school has a lot of issues and lack of funding (or improper use of their funding) and I don't see that it will get any better.

We loved the children's house (pre-K and K) and 1st/2nd grade but now we have a middle school kid and the middle school is a mess. My 2nd grader is also bored and in a class with kinders, it's very unorganized and distracting at both campuses. I love the families and many of the teachers but I will not be enrolling my kids here much longer, especially not middle school.

A few examples: Elementary music teacher is very mean and hateful toward the kids. Many complaints about her yet she is still working there after numerous parent complaints over the years. Two teachers left at the middle school this year alone and were replaced with inadequate subs (as I am assuming the pay doe not attract higher quality education). The Sped department is also loosing it's best teacher, I don't think she has been happy at the middle school either. Test scores continue to decline. Little to no science at elementary campus and very little science until 7th grade at middle school (what a shame). Outdoor education was once plentiful, haven't seen much at the middle school at all. There are too many really exceptional schools in Flagstaff to justify staying at FJA.

It's unfortunate but unless some radical changes are made, I don't see a bright future for this school Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
