Higley Unified School District

The 14 schools in Higley Unified School District include nine elementary, two middle, two high and one alternative school, serving students from elementary through high school. Across the 13 schools with 2025–26 all-grades results, the average was 60% in ELA and 57% in math, compared with state results of 41% and 33%. The most important takeaway is that these above-state averages hide substantial differences from one school to another.

Bridges Elementary leads the all-grades results, with 77% proficiency in ELA and 79% in math; Cooley Middle is lowest, at 46% and 39%—gaps of 31 and 40 points. Both Cooley results are still above the state, but by just 5 points in ELA and 6 in math. Bridges also leads 5th-grade math at 88%, compared with 35% at Power Ranch Elementary, a 53-point gap. SchoolDigger gives Bridges five stars and ranks it 31st of 900 Arizona elementary schools, in the 97th percentile. Among middle schools, Sossaman Middle beats Cooley in all four 7th- and 8th-grade ELA and math comparisons, by 10 to 24 points. Coronado Elementary also stands out in math, leading the all-grades results at 68%.

SchoolDigger’s average statewide percentile for 13 schools rose from 77 in 2023–24 to 80 in 2025–26, a gain of about 3 percentile points; Gateway Pointe Elementary improved from the 54th to the 68th percentile, while some schools slipped. These are ranking changes, not evidence of test-score gains. Ratios alone do not neatly distinguish results: Sossaman’s reported 19.8 students per teacher is higher than Cooley’s 15.3 despite its stronger comparable-grade scores, and Coronado and Power Ranch have similar ratios—12.3 and 12.6—but different all-grades results. Among the high schools, Higley High is ahead of Williams Field High in 11th-grade ELA (57% to 55%), math (55% to 48%) and science (34% to 28%). Test-score histories were not supplied, so the available ranking trend cannot show whether proficiency rates rose or fell.
