Summary:
Higley Unified School District has two high schools, Williams Field High School and Higley High School; both serve grades 8–12 and have enrollments of about 2,000 students. Both schools outperform Arizona on every reported test measure, and the most important distinction is that Higley High leads Williams Field across all of them.
Higley High is the top performer, while Williams Field has the lower result on each test. In 2025–2026 all-grades AASA results, Higley had 57% proficient in English Language Arts (ELA) and 55% in math, compared with Williams Field’s 55% and 48%; the state results were 41% and 33%. The schools’ ELA results were 2 points apart, while math results differed by 7 points. The same pattern holds in grade 11: Higley leads by 2 points in ELA and 7 in math. In 2024–2025 science, Higley scored 34% and Williams Field 28%, versus 19% statewide. Graduation rates are also strong and close: 97% at Higley and 96% at Williams Field, compared with 80% statewide.
SchoolDigger’s recent rankings show a mixed picture, not a clear change in test performance: Williams Field moved from 68th of 270 schools in 2023–2024 to 62nd of 256 in 2025–2026, while Higley shifted from 45th of 270 to 49th of 256, after ranking 59th in between. The ranking pools changed, and test results are available for only one year per subject, so these figures do not establish score trends. Higley has 145 fewer students and a student–teacher ratio of 18.7, compared with Williams Field’s 19.7. Its reported per-student spending was also lower—$5,713 versus $6,282—in 2021–2022; these differences describe the schools but do not explain their results.
