Summary:

Gadsden Elementary District has eight schools—six elementary and two middle schools, including one school serving PK–8, and no high schools. Across the reported all-grades results, schools average 30% proficient in ELA, compared with 41% statewide, and 31% in math, compared with 33% statewide. Elementary grade-level averages show the same pattern: ELA is 9–11 percentage points below the state, while math ranges from 7 points below in grade 3 to about the state level in grade 6. The most important takeaway is that results vary sharply even within a grade: sixth-grade math ranges from 14% at Cesar Chavez Elementary to 58% at Desert View Elementary, a 44-point gap.

Desert View Elementary stands out in math: its all-grades result of 46% is 11 points above the next-highest school and 13 points above the state; its sixth-grade result is also the highest elementary result reported. Southwest Junior High School leads San Luis Middle School in all four matched seventh- and eighth-grade comparisons, by 25 and 23 points in ELA and 15 and 18 points in math. At the lower end of the all-grades summaries, Gadsden Elementary School has the lowest ELA result, 17%—24 points below the state—while San Luis has the lowest math result, 18%, 15 points below the state. Leaders also vary by grade: Educational Pastor Elementary 4 leads reported third-grade ELA and math, while Cesar Chavez leads several fourth- through sixth-grade results.

SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile rankings improved on average, from 30 in 2023–24 to 35 in 2025–26, a gain of 5 percentile points; Southwest Junior High School rose from the 42nd to the 62nd percentile, while Gadsden Elementary School fell from the 36th to the 16th. These are relative rankings, not a measure of changing test proficiency. Similar staffing ratios do not mean similar results: Desert View Elementary and Cesar Chavez Elementary have ratios of 30.4 and 30.6 students per teacher, yet their sixth-grade math results differ by 44 points; no free/reduced-lunch rates are supplied. Science results are also below state levels: the grade 5 average is 18% versus 34% statewide, and the grade 8 average is 13% versus 30%; these results are from 2024–25, unlike the 2025–26 ELA and math results.
