Summary

Meadow Park Elementary School in North Little Rock, AR, serves 468 students from Pre-K through 5th grade and is part of the North Little Rock School District, a district ranked in the bottom 20% of Arkansas. The school has a long history of low academic performance, consistently ranking in the bottom 10-20% of elementary schools in the state over the past decade, and currently holds a 1-star rating. All students at Meadow Park qualify for free or reduced lunch, reflecting extremely high economic need.

One of the most striking findings is the performance gap between Meadow Park and two nearby schools in the same district. While Meadow Park scores in the 10th percentile, Lakewood Elementary and Crestwood Elementary rank in the 79th and 81st percentiles, respectively—a difference of over 70 percentile points despite being only 3.5 miles apart and sharing the same district administration and funding. Meadow Park spends more per student ($13,223) than these higher-performing schools, suggesting that money alone does not guarantee success. The school’s weakest subject is Science, where only 19.1% of students are proficient compared to the state average of 44%. For example, in 5th grade Science, just 16.7% of Meadow Park students are proficient, versus over 60% at Lakewood and Crestwood.

There is a glimmer of hope in 4th grade Math, where 30.2% of students are proficient—the school’s highest score for any subject and the only grade where it outperforms its district average. This could point to a specific teacher or program worth replicating. Nearby, Sherwood Elementary (68th percentile) in the Pulaski County Special School District has a much lower poverty rate (46.7% free/reduced lunch) and performs far better, while William Jefferson Clinton Elementary (15th percentile) in the same area has a 72.87% poverty rate and performs similarly to Meadow Park. This highlights the strong link between economic demographics and academic outcomes. Overall, Meadow Park’s decade of stagnation—never achieving more than a 1-star rating—indicates a systemic challenge that requires sustained, targeted intervention.

Open Quote Teachers turn a blind eye to the little guys being picked on. Like Choked, head slamed into wall kicked picked on called gay you cannot tell me a teacher does not hear this. When asked about cameras then you are told they are not in class, well I am sure its not to hold the teachers accountable. Oh wait but when my child was jumped on in the bus that camera was broke.
The asst principal and principal just make the rehearsed excuses. I wonder how 7 on your side would feel.
Your children are being picked on How will they succeed in life if they feel no one cares anyway. Close Quote
